Brass Grain is the studio of Neve Ashcombe — warm, unhurried photography for portraits, weddings, editorial features and brand libraries. Available light, honest frames, no posing you would not recognise.
Booking portrait & wedding dates for the coming season
Medium-format film for the frames that should feel like memory, digital for coverage and speed. You receive both in one gallery.
Windows, weather and the last hour of afternoon do most of the work. Lighting gear appears only when a room genuinely needs it.
Small, specific prompts instead of stiff posing, so the people in the frame still look like themselves an hour in.
The studio
Most people arrive slightly nervous and leave surprised at how little was asked of them. That is the whole method.
Sessions begin with a conversation rather than a camera. We walk, we talk about what the pictures are actually for, and the first real frame usually happens once the self-consciousness has worn off — somewhere around the twenty-minute mark.
Every commission is photographed and edited by Neve, start to finish. Colour is graded by hand toward warm brass and deep shadow, the studio's signature, and files are delivered in a single gallery you can keep, download and share without an expiry date.

A short edit across portrait, wedding, editorial and brand commissions — enough to tell whether the studio's light is the light you want.
Sessions
Each commission includes hand-graded colour, a private online gallery and full personal-use rights. Figures are starting points; the enquiry form is where we shape the rest.

Process
Three steps, no surprises. You will know the plan for the day long before the day arrives.
Send the form below with your date and what the photographs are for. You get a reply with availability, a full price list and two or three honest suggestions about approach.
We agree on locations, timing and light, then lock the date with a deposit. For weddings this includes a walkthrough of the schedule so nothing is being decided on the morning itself.
Film is developed and scanned, digital is graded to match, and everything lands in one private gallery — downloadable in full resolution and in web-ready sizes.

A few lines is plenty. Include the date if you have one, and where you imagine the photographs being taken — that is usually enough to answer properly.
